This is a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of urinary urgency/frequency, urge urinary incontinence, non-obstructive urinary retention, or fecal incontinence. It has been approved by the FDA since 1997, so it is well studied and very safe with excellent success rates of up to 70% for most conditions.

A small electrical wire is advanced through a small skin incision to float near the nerves that go to the bladder and bowel. If a trial period proves this to be a successful treatment result for the patient, then a very small pacemaker is inserted just under the skin to provide a constant, permanent benefit.

It is the most permanent of the overactive bladder treatments, and it remains the only minimally invasive procedural treatment for fecal incontinence.

This outpatient procedure only takes about 45 minutes and recovery is minimal.
